How would the media story change if instead of an ancient radio shack clock it was another kid's hobby project he misrepresented at school as his own hobby project maybe the kid wasn't even enrolled in the same area and never finds out until it makes the news the backlash would bury him but obviously radio shack isn't another kid. Kids deserve to be treated with such responsibilities and countless other kids his age perform admirably at it and do not cheat in their hobby projects for personal gain in school. He won't not be suspended nor fail any classes just a note of a failure of character while under the supervision of the school's staff. Due to his lying to a multiple teachers and classmates a note in his academic record for fraud in misrepresenting another's work as his own is a correct even-handed punishment. Your actions in school what you choose to do and your interactions with the people there can speak volumes more than your grades (The curriculum is meaningless if you don't actually come out with a strong character and work ethic).
